I'm in this creative phase if you can't tell for finding new ways to make treats for my pets and yours. The other day I was feeding them some wet food and an idea popped in my head. (light bulb) Pot pies but for pets. The only problem would be creating the crust. I looked at the bases of a normal pie crust and came to the conclusion I was going to use a recipe for a cat treat and then form it into the crust. It worked like a charm and my cats were pretty happy campers. :)
You will need:
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp. catnip
- 1/8 tsp. sea salt
- 3 tbsp. powder milk
- Wet Food
- Mini Muffin Pan
* Note- This was intended for cat's because that what I own, but you can switch out the the catnip and add other ingredients for a dog. :)
Starts by whisking the eggs and water together. Now add the cat nip, salt and milk. Finally slowly stir the flour in.
Sprinkle some rice flour on a piece of parchment paper and place dough on it. Wrap it up and place in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour.
Once that is complete pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. You will now start making the bottom and top crusts. Take marble size pieces and press into the bottom of pan. Scoop a little bit of wet food and top with more crust. I used a pastry brush to brush water on the tops and bottoms so that they wouldn't stick to the pan. Do this until there is no more of either crust or wet food.
Place into the oven for 15 minutes. Take out and cool before serving. This will make about 12-18 treats.
