Not Your Ordinary Cookies

So I got a special request to make some dog treats so I made my usual pumpkin parsley one's and then I decided to make up another one just for kicks and boy did I ever! Let's just say watch the cookie snatchers at home because they might mistake one of these meaty treats for your typical chocolate chip. Yuck!

You will need:

  • 2 1/2 cups of gluten free flour
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 13 oz can of wet dog food ( I got the Vitality Brand that they sell at Target)
  • 3 tbsp. dry milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/8 tsp. sea salt
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

Start out by mixing the eggs and the wet dog food. Now you can add the flour, salt  and milk. As you are stirring slowly add the water as you need it. It should look like what cookie mix looks like at the end.

Put a couple tablespoons down an inch a part on a parchment lined pan. Place in the oven for 20 minutes. Cool when done. Will make about 12-15 treats.

Skirt to Dress

My sister is about to go visit my other sister and her family so I thought this would be a great opportunity to make something for my niece, Charlotte. I always see these how to's on how to turn a shirt into something else so I thought I would turn a skirt that I hardly wore at all into a beautiful dress for my niece. I think it came out quite well don't you think?

You will need:
  • Old skirt
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Machine
  • Matching Thread
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Imagination :)
You will need to start out by planning out the dress design. My skirt had a zipper  that had to go and a sash that had to be dealt with in some way. Next I turned the skirt inside out and figured out how wide I wanted the dress to be. Now since I didn't want the zipper I pushed that end out and sew down where I needed the dress to be. I then cut the excess off.

Then I wrapped the sash around the upper part of the dress and cut what I didn't need off. I needed sleeves so I made sure I had enough after cutting.

I would sew the sleeves on first and then place the sash around so that any thread will not be seen over it. I flipped the dress inside out again for this part. Remember to make sure that they are at the exact same length or else you will have one longer then the other.

For the wrap around at the top I just hot glued it on. It just seemed simplest to me, but feel free to sew it on if you'd like. If that is all you would like then you are officially finished. If not go ahead and add a flower or bow to the mix. Have fun!

Giant Origami Sleeping Beauty Castle Sculpture

For my Disney quest this week I found this amazing origami Sleeping Beauty Castle. I think it's amazing how people can take paper and turn it into something as beautiful as this. Here is more information on this wonderful work of art Giant Origami Sleeping Beauty Castle.

80's themed mustache

I recently decided to make some mustaches that look 80's themed. I think they came out ok. I wish the pink was a little brighter but I think it's ok. What do you think?

All I did was took three colors and streaked them across each other. Then I added the black on top of all three.

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Wow! It sure has been a busy weekend for me. I am pooped and glad to have to day to rest. Haha I know that sounds weird on a Monday morning but that's just how it is. :) Well here is a little something to take some of you kids back in time, Pee Wee's Big Adventure "The Breakfast Machine". I loved this movie and the shows! In fact now I feel like posting another show for you guys.

The one of the best part of the show was the secret word. Every time they would say the secret word everyone would scream. I think even now this would be fun to teach younger ones lots of different word.

Have a wonderful day and great week everyone!

Mocha Birthday Oreo Ice Cream

It's kind of funny how Oreo's are celebrating their one hundredth birthday at the same time my sister in law is celebrating her's. Oreo ice cream is her favorite so I thought I would go ahead and take a hack at it. When I went to get the Oreo's  it was to my surprise that they have way more flavors then I imagined before. I didn't know whether stick to the original or go for the gusto! My husband saw the birthday Oreo's and so I got those. Just a warning if you aren't a fan of the sweet smell of what a white cake with confetti inside smells like do not choose these. Go for plain and simple. Now lets get started!

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup cream
  • 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened powder cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tbsp. coffee liqueur
  • Birthday Oreo's
  • Old Coffee Container or Any Container of Preference
  • sprinkles (optional)
  • candle (optional)
I'm going to start out by saying that you do not need a fancy machine to do this project. I have made ice cream the can way, machine way and with my mixer. If you are using a mixer I would freeze the bowl for a little bit that you are going to use so that when you put the ice cream in it you can blend it more easily.

Place condensed milk and cocoa powder in pan on medium. Stir until smooth. Be careful not to burn. Remove from heat and let cool a little bit.

Now add heavy whipping cream, cream, vanilla and coffee liqueur. Place in container and put in fridge for a little bit too cool. Then remove from fridge and place in freezer for 2 hours. At this time you can crush the Oreo's. I forgot to blend mine with the ice cream so mine are just chunks mixed in. You can do it either way since the ice cream is already mocha it won't be missing much if you don't blend the Oreo's.

After two hours take out and place ice cream in the bowl you are going to use to blend and make it look more like ice cream. I had an attachment to my Kitchen Aid so I used that. I started blending and the slowly  adding the Oreo's. If you are using a machine follow their instructions. Once your done blending to your liking scoop back into your container and let freeze for 4 or more hours.

When I took mine out the next morning I added sprinkles and a candle because I'm giving mine away as a gift, but you may do whatever you like. Enjoy!

ABC 123 Disney

A is for Ariel, B is for Bambi, C is for Cheshire Cat....

In honor of my niece starting preschool this year I decided to make my next Disney thing about that. I tried to make it sensory and the colors of the particular Disney character.  My niece cannot see and barely hear so I thought this would be a perfect way to try to teach her. All it requires is different texture items, papers, and color. I did letters, numbers, color and shapes. For the shape I made it out of a part of the Disney character. For example I drew Ariel's fin and pointed to it. Now go out there and start learning!

Mini Pot Pies For Pets

I'm in this creative phase if you can't tell for finding new ways to make treats for my pets and yours. The other day I was feeding them some wet food and an idea popped in my head. (light bulb) Pot pies but for pets. The only problem would be creating the crust. I looked at the bases of a normal pie crust and came to the conclusion I was going to use a recipe for a cat treat and then form it into the crust. It worked like a charm and my cats were pretty happy campers. :)

You will need:
  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp. catnip
  • 1/8 tsp. sea salt
  • 3 tbsp. powder milk
  • Wet Food
  • Mini Muffin Pan
* Note- This was intended for cat's because that what I own, but you can switch out the the catnip and add other ingredients for a dog. :)

Starts by whisking the eggs and water together. Now add the cat nip, salt and milk. Finally slowly stir the flour in.

Sprinkle some rice flour on a piece of parchment paper and place dough on it. Wrap it up and place in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour.

Once that is complete pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. You will now start making the bottom and top crusts. Take marble size pieces and press into the bottom of pan. Scoop a little bit of wet food and top with more crust. I used a pastry brush to brush water on the tops and bottoms so that they wouldn't stick to the pan. Do this until there is no more of either crust or wet food.

Place into the oven for 15 minutes. Take out and cool before serving. This will make about 12-18 treats.

La Luna

I just saw "Brave" today and I must say  love that movie. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to see it, but it wasn't until I got Nutmeg that I felt the need to go. My new kitten reminds me of the main character, Merida in so many ways at the moment. After seeing the movie I can't believe I never wanted to see it.

Anyway, before they showed the movie they showed a short film called "La Luna." I fell in love with it as well. I don't know how Pixar does it.

If you haven't seen the movie go see it, you won't be disappointed. Have a great week everyone!

Back To School!

It's my niece's first year at school and we are all pretty psyched! I remember having a first day at school frame when I was younger so I decided to make one for my sister to put my niece's photo in.

All you'll need is:

  • Plain Frame of Choice
  • Paint
  • Stickers
  • Brushes
Basically pull out your paint brushes and whatever else you'd like and create a memorable frame to hold your child's picture in. :)

DIY the simple way rolling pin holder

Good Sunday Everyone!

I have a very simple diy here and it'll probably make your mind spin as to how many other ways you can creatively hold your rolling pins. All I basically did was go to Michaels and got those stylish hooks they have and tacked them to the wall. You can make them bigger or smaller in the hook area. I also used one for my aprons. They give my kitchen a different and more stylish look.

Fantastic Blueberry Muffins to Start Your Weekend!

While out shopping I decided I wanted to by some blueberries to make some muffins to start my day! They came out great and would be great for a weekend treat!

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries, (may use frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, for topping
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well; stir in milk. Combine dry ingredients and add to the mixture; stir to combine. Gently fold in blueberries. Fill greased muffin cups about 2/3 full. Sprinkle tops with a little sugar. Bake in oven for about 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Makes about 18 muffins.

Hope you all enjoy these and have a wonderful weekend!

Banana Cream Peanut Butter

My husband really loves peanut butter and lately I've been trying to make it myself. He just recently ran out and I got this brilliant idea to put two of his favorite things together. Let me just tell ya, Wow! That's all you need to know for this recipe. :D

Things you will need:
  • 2 cups of peanuts
  • 4 tbsp. honey
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil or oil of choice
  • 1 packet of banana cream pudding
  • Jar
Start out by slowly putting the peanuts in a food processer a little at a time to crush the peanuts. Then start adding the honey and oil until smooth. Now make the pudding and then add as much as you would like to the peanut mixture. Once all this is done and you've gotten it to your desired consistency put it in your jar and refrigerate for later or now if your hungry now. :) When I take it out of the fridge I just warm the bread so it will spread easier.

Just Nectariny Jam

I woke up today and notice that the jam jar was in the sink. I didn't want to have to go get some so with so quick thinking I came up with Nectarine Jam! It's so yummy and I love the smell!!! I think my husband will love it too considering he uses it everyday for his snack at lunch. :)

To get start:

  • 3 nectarines
  • 1 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 tsp. Pectin
  • 3 tbsp. lemon juice
  • Jar
First pit and cut all of the nectarines. On one I remove the skin, but the other two I left it on. Now mash only 3/4 of your nectarines. The rest will go in as chunks.

In a medium sized pan place nectarines and lemon juice.  Slowly add the pectin and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, which can't be stirred down.

Now add the sugar into the  mix and bring it back to  a rolling boil for about a minute. Turn off stove top and place pan away from heat so it can cool. Once cooled place into jar to enjoy later. Have a great  day!

Disneyland Pact

In November I am going to Disneyland and so I've decided that I'm going to make one Disney item a week until we get there! I've already got a bundle of ideas stored up so lets see how I do. :)

Well here we go..... For this week I've decides to make Disney Earrings out of Model Magic.

You will need:

  • Model Magic or Clay
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Old Earrings or Earring Part from Craft Store
  • Glue
  • Fabric Paint
  • Pliers
  • Imagination :)
First you will have to start out by getting your Clay or Model Magic out. You can either make it or buy it from the store. I made mine. Next mold your's into your desired Disney Character. I made a poison apple for Snow White and Mickey. With Model Magic you will have to wait over night before you start to paint, but if you have clay that you bake you can start right away. Don't forget that you will need to put the backing in before it drys.

Take your old earrings and pliers and separate the pointy backing part.  Insert it into your creation and bake or dry over night. It will also help to glue it a little so that it won't move around. I used store bought earring attachments for the poison apples and my old earrings for the mickeys.

Now for the fun part painting your pieces. I would first do acrylic and then use glitter fabric paint to make it more magical. Now wait for it to dry and then you can try them on. :)

More mustache and another clay creation

In a recent post I think I was saying how I was doing a mustache gift basket as a birthday gift. Well here is one of  the many creations going into it so far. It's a jar that say "My Stauche" I thought it would be cute and I always remembered how she hid things cause her brothers likes to take without asking. I thought hey this would great and I can stick all kinds off goodies in here. :)

All you need is:

  • Old jar
  • 2 squares of scrap fabric
  • Fabric paint
  • Acrylic paint
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint Brushes
First make sure your jar is super clean. Here's a little tip, if your having trouble getting the label goo off just use baby oil and it will come right off. I also use baby oil on my Mod Podge brushes and Paint brushes. It makes them super clean and easy to use later.

Now start drawing the mustache. I drew this and then waited before I did the words.  While you are waiting paint the lid. Once the lid has dried place Mod Podge over it to make it super shiny or you can just leave it be.

When everything has dried it's time to add the fabric to the bottom of the lid. You can slits in it first or just leave it be. Once you've finished glue to the lid.

Now you are ready to stack though's goodies up!! :{

So while I was doing the craft above I had this bright idea I wanted to do something with clay. It didn't quite come out as I had planned. In fact it was nothing that I had planned, but that is ok. Especially since this is way better!

I was trying to make this button that said "I :{ (that little guy is my best way of showing a mustache) Act." My sister in law just informed me that is what she wants to do and I want to be supportive in every way I can.

What I ended up making was an egg that was sunny side up! :) Totallly different!!!

I love it thought because I always see thought really creative food beads and want one. Well I finally have one and I did it all by myself!

You will need:
  • Clay
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Fabric Paint
  • Paint Brushes
All you need to do is make a flat circle and place into the the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour. You want to do it until you see a little bubble. Be careful not to burn that clay.

Next paint with acrylic first and then fabric. The fabric paint will give it that glossy look. Mine had glitter in it. That's basically it. :)

Magazine Fruit Bowl

It started out as a project to make a huge basket of some sort to hold all the goodies I was gathering for my sister in laws birthday, but quickly changed to something else. Now this basket is holding some delicious fruit and it is soooo easy to make!

  • 20 sheets of magazine paper
  • mod podge
  • paint brush
  • balloon
  • Newspaper or something to cover your table
Start out by prepping your area so that it won't be a big mess later. Next blow up your balloon and place to the side ( preferable with no sharp objects). Now cut your magazines sheets into strips and start adding them with Mod Podge to the balloon. I did about two layer, but you can do more if you prefer.

Once you are  done let the balloon dry over night. Tommorow once it has dried take a push pin and pop the balloon. This way it will deflate withing the magazine egg. Now you can start pushing on one side so that it starts to form the basket shape.

You can either leave it this way, add another layer or maybe get creative and add a handle or something. :)

Oooooh I wonder, wonder, wonder ooooo I do....

It's kind of funny how I've had this old commercial jingle stuck in my head for quite sometime now. I wish they had them still available in stores still. Any who I decided to take that concept and make a cat treat out of it. :) Are you ready? Lets get started.

Kitty Wonder Ball Treat

  • 2 cups of white rice flour
  • 2 tbsp. dry milk
  • 1/8 tsp. sea salt
  • 5 oz. can of tuna
  • 2 eggs
  • Cat treats
  • 2 tbsp. water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Start out by whisking the eggs and tuna together. Then gradually add milk, sea salt and rice flour. I used my
mixer for the flour part.

Pour out dough on lightly floured surface and knead together.

Now start pulling apart and make them into small spheres. Push down in the middle of one and place treat. Then close and make into a sphere again. Do this until there is no dough. It makes about 20 treats.

Place the treats on a parchment lined pan and brush water on the tops of them. Then put them in the oven for 20 minutes.

Once they are finished take out and cool before giving to your furry friend. I would give the treats a 1 week shelf life and place them in the refrigerator.

Most likely they will need help breaking the treat apart, but they'll be excited to see a double treat!
